Legacy is 28 inches wide, 32 inches long, and 14 inches tall. Weighing in at just under 80 lbs, Legacy is the lightest robot in our team's short history. It's design maximizes both speed and maneuverability, which is perfect for this year's dynamic playing field.
This year our robot features six wheels in a tank-drive configuration, with three wheels on each side of the chassis. The fly-wheel mounted at the front of our robot drops down outside of the frame perimeter to collect any boulders on the ground. These boulders are immediately deposited into launching basin, where they are held until fired. Our robot fires boulders by using a small pneumatic piston to push the boulder through two launch-wheels. Our robot is highly accurate at shooting from anywhere in the opposing alliance's courtyard.
Autonomous During the 15 second match-starting autonomous period, our robot can both reach and cross any of the Category B, Category D, and Non-Selectable defenses. This includes the Moat, Ramparts, Rock Wall, Rough Terrain, and Low Bar.
Teleoperated During the remainder of the match, our robot can cross Category A, Category B, Category D, and Non-Selectable defenses independently, and in both directions. This includes the Portcullis, Cheval de Frise, Moat, Ramparts, Rock Wall, Rough Terrain, and Low Bar. Our robot can also cross Category C defenses independently, but in only one direction. To cross them in the opposite direction we will require assistance from other robots. This includes the Drawbridge and Sally Port.
